Sales Director – Northwest Territory USA

Responsibility

We are seeking a top-tier, experienced renewable energy development professional to help implement strategies and tactics necessary to develop solar power plant projects for key investor-owned electric utilities, municipal utilities, independent power producers, and rural electric cooperatives in the US. We are looking for a team player with proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment. The candidate should be highly motivated and a self-starter.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO) THE FOLLOWING:

• Responsibility for securing a pipeline of development opportunities and conversion of pipeline into high value operating assets
• Utilize a robust CRM tool to organize, manage and prioritize business opportunities
• Build, nurture and manage strategic relationships with strategic partners and build new channels to market
• Proactive development of key customer relationships
• Qualify new customer prospects for Phoenix Solar
• Develop and perfect the RFP process
• Develop proposals and secure contracts for PV systems
• Travel to customer sites for meetings, presentations and project development support. Perform on-site evaluations to educate clients on solar opportunities
• Negotiate and close deals developing new projects
• Support financing, purchasing and construction and maintain appropriate level of expertise around those functions
• Understands cost drivers to meet corporate profitability objectives
• Oversight of projects through development process
• Coordinate with permitting, resource assessment, construction and design, and financial analysis throughout the development process
• Work with a team to successfully develop and deploy large scale Power Plants
• Support development of partnerships with other Power Plant developers
• Direct submittal of proposals to utilities and independent power producers (IPP) partners
• Responsible for all Government compliance filings related to Power Plant development projects
• Assist the CSO in the development of sales plans, corporate strategy and the execution of such plans
• Establish and sustain relationships with the management team and department heads that leads to an environment of knowledgeable, active management in the company
• Complete sales reports and routinely communicate sales status, forecasts and business opportunities to the executive team and company
• Participate in trade shows and other marketing events as warranted
• Attend sales meetings

Requirements

Education:
• Undergraduate degree mandatory, advanced degree desirable
Experience:
• 7+ years of proven success in renewable energy
• Experience in commercial and/or utility-scale power plant development and marketing
• Track record for developing new business, signing up new accounts and driving organic sales growth
• Experience selling solar, energy or demand management products or services to the commercial and industrial markets
• Experience with power purchase agreements
• Experience crafting, presenting and implementing successful sales strategy plans
• Strong understanding of financial modeling concepts, including costs and savings, incentive programs and finance vehicles
• Understanding of utility regulatory environment, environmental review and permitting processes
• Career includes experience developing new accounts, strategic alliances and sales channel partners
• Strong diplomatic and negotiation skills and experience negotiating major commercial sales and service agreements with customers
• Experience with and understanding of the complexities around energy and sustainability
• Project management experience
• Proven ability to perform in high-visibility, high-growth environments
Business Tools:
• Knowledge of CRM system desired
